Common Questions

Are my images uploaded?

No. Images are processed locally in your browser and are not uploaded by Compressly.

Why did Compressly keep the original file?

Some images are already optimized. Compressly compares the output with the original and keeps the original when re-encoding would make the file larger.

Does PNG support target-size compression?

PNG does not support quality-based target-size search in the browser. Use JPG or WebP for stronger size reduction.

Does animated GIF stay animated?

No. Animated GIFs are optimized as a single still frame in this build.
